Beethoven recording in progress

I am currently in the process of recording the complete Beethoven Cello Sonatas with pianist Michael Uhde.

Two sonatas, sonatas Op. 5 No.1 in F Major and Op. 69 No. 3 in A Major have already been recorded. The acoustics of the Velte-Saal in the Schloss Gottesaue (Musikhochschule Karlsruhe) were great, and I am very happy with the results. I can’t wait to record the next sonatas.

Beethoven’s Sonatas are of particular importance to me. I have studied them since my early years and they have stayed with me ever since. And there is also an important family connection. Already my grandfather Jürgen Uhde, pianist, musicologist, and pedagogue has dealt with the complete piano work intensely and has published a standard work in three volumes: Beethovens Klaviermusik (Reclam editions).

The recording engineer was Marc Seiffge, with whom I have collaborated many times before. Michael Uhde played a Steinway D concert grand and I used my fine 1852 French Bernardel cello.
